Arcadia, Calif, April 16, 2001—Magnus & Co. has won the opportunity to plan, execute and promote a special health and fitness event, hosted by Ready Pac Produce in partnership with the Produce for Better Health Foundation. The free-to-the-public event, part of the Foundation’s 5 A Day Across the USA tour, will help raise awareness of the benefits of consuming five servings of fruits and vegetables to improve health and fight obesity.

With only five weeks to the Get Fit with 5 A Day in LA event on May 3, Magnus will quickly implement a full and creative series of action items that includes securing a fitness expert to lead health-giving exercise sessions. Magnus also plans to treat the public to festivities that include a drawing to win memberships to a leading gym; music and giveaways from K-BIG 104.3 FM; and nutritional experts to offer health tips.

5 A Day for Better Health is a non-profit organization, which in cooperation with the National Cancer Institute, sponsors the 5 A Day for Better Health program. As one of the program’s most faithful supporters, Ready Pac will donate a selection of fresh-cut produce to provide the public with complimentary, healthy snacks. To date, Magnus has secured additional donations from the California Avocado Commission, City of Hope, Huntington Memorial Hospital, Kinko’s, Marie’s Salad Dressing, Newman’s Own, Inc., T. Marzetti, United Melon, and the Washington Apple Commission.

The Ready Pac Get Fit in LA with 5 A Day event will take place in Pershing Square in the heart of downtown Los Angeles on May 3 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
